Preventive Care

We wish for every child to grow up cavity free.  This can occur with proper dental care.  Raising a cavity free child should start with early, regular dental visits and good oral hygiene at home.  Visiting the dentist regularly allows your child to take advantage of all the latest preventive techniques.  Prevention of decay is emphasized in our practice and we strive to help you and your child achieve a cavity free mouth.  We ask for your assistance in achieving this goal by monitoring your child’s home care and by returning for regular dental visits.

The importance of regular visits to the Pediatric Dentist:

    • An accurate risk assessment for oral diseases and conditions
    • An individualized preventive dental health program based on risk assessment
    • Anticipatory guidance about growth and development issues (e.g., tooth eruption, thumb, finger, or pacifier habits: feeding practices)
    • A plan for emergency dental trauma
    • Information about proper care of the child’ s teeth and soft tissues
    • Information about proper nutrition
    • Comprehensive dental care in accordance with accepted guidelines and periodic schedules for pediatric dental health
    • Referrals to other dental specialists when care cannot be provided directly within our practice
